Ultra X AMD $10K Pro-Am
A quick fix of Call of Duty leading into champs week was provided this past weekend with a 16-team pro-am that featured two CDL teams. Initially it was announced there would be three CDL teams, but Falcons pulled out before the event started. A sign of things to come.
Rokkr entered the tournament as the first seed, and they lived up to the expectations in their first match against KAOS, winning 3-0 behind Nero’s pop-off 1.71. The fun for Minnesota quickly faded, as FiveFears White sent them to the Losers’ Bracket with a 3-1 win. Exceed led the way for FiveFears with a 1.24 performance. Burger King no more?
Rokkr’s weekend came to an end shortly after as they surprisingly forfeited their series against the Stallions in Loser’s round two. A drama-free weekend of COD? Never.
Believe it or not, LAG M8s came out hot to start the event, winning their first two matches over Unity Visual and Team WaR, who featured fellow teammate Lynz. The two wins would mark the longest win streak in LAG M8s history. Unfortunately, that streak didn’t last long because their next matchup came against the eventual champs, Team Notorious, who were led by Afro. If only there was a player like Afro available all year.
The LAG M8s bounced back against Team Orchid before falling short against OMiT Brooklyn in the Losers’ Semi-Finals. A last-minute dropout, a forfeit for T12, and a fourth-place finish. Not the best showing for the CDL.
FiveFears White took down OMiT Brooklyn in a Map 5 Round 11 to force a rematch against Team Notorious in the Grand Finals. FiveFears used up all of their Round 11 luck against OMiT as Team Notorious took home the event in a Map 7 Round 11 of their own. To make matters worse, it wasn’t just one Round 11, but THREE Round 11’s that went the way of Team Notorious in the Grand Finals.
Despite the loss, Abe had the series of the weekend, finishing with 168 kills and a 1.27 while leading the lobby in damage. Up next?
Congrats to @_TeamNotorious for winning the AMD Gaming Overclocked Tournament!

CHAMPS PREVIEW
FaZe vs OpTic
The marquee matchup of the first round is OpTic-FaZe, with Atlanta and Hecz’s squad clashing for the first time since the Losers’ Finals of MW19 Champs. The season series has been decidedly tilted in FaZe’s favor, as they have won all four series against OpTic, including the most recent matchup with Mercules in the lineup. In fact, in all four series combined, OpTic has not strung together enough map wins to win a single series, with a 2-12 map count vs Atlanta.
While the defending World Champs have certainly improved since adding Merc, their performance is still a far cry from last year’s roster; they are 4-4 with the rookie, though every win has come against a Champs qualifying roster.
To make a daunting matchup even scarier, just add in the fact that the FaZe trio has not lost their opening Champs matchup since forming. Can OpTic peak at the perfect time a second season in a row?

Surge vs Heretics
Surge and Heretics have danced around each other the last half of the season; the two teams have not played since Major 2 Qualifying, when Lucky was still starting for Miami. Surge swept the season series 2-0.
Miami’s rookie AR duo will make their CDL Champs debut, while 04 and Abuzah seek revenge on the team that eliminated them from last year’s Champs at Top 8. Can Vancouver recover their midseason form, or will RenKoR and SupeR kick off their postseason career with a win?
Thieves vs Breach
Usually the 1-8 seed matchup at Champs is an afterthought, but Boston has proven to be a thorn in the Thieves’ side. For the second time this season, the Thieves have drawn Boston in the first round of LAN. The last time? Major 2, where Boston bounced LAT to the Losers’ Bracket en route to their worst finish of the season.
Boston is one of just three teams to take a series off Thieves on LAN and hold a .500 record against them this season (2-2). Can Boston turn the tables and steal yet another series from under the Thieves' noses?

Ultra vs Ravens
While the Breach might feel they have a puncher’s chance, the Ravens have to be feeling like they have anything but. Toronto won the season series 3-1, taking the last three series between the two teams. Two of those matchups came since the Ravens added Wrecks, once during Major 4 Qualifiers and then a second time on LAN.
Of all the teams that qualified for the postseason, the Ravens are in by far the worst form. They have lost 10 of 13 series since the Major 3 Qualifiers began, and only one of their wins has come against a Champs roster. Will Ultra’s blizzard remain super-effective against the Ravens?
The BEST K/D Ratio per map 📈
Any surprises here? 🤔
